Denver, CO — Senate Republicans welcomed the appointment of Senator Lisa Frizell to the Colorado State Board of Equalization. She succeeds former Senator Chris Hansen and will oversee property assessment quality and consistency to help ensure fairness in Colorado’s property tax system.

“Senator Frizell has been a strong advocate for Colorado taxpayers and brings the experience necessary to ensure accountability and transparency in the property tax process,” said Senate Minority Leader Cleave Simpson. “At a time when many Colorado families are struggling with rising property tax burdens, it is critical to have leaders on the State Board of Equalization who will stand up for taxpayers and work to ensure valuations are fair and accurate.”

The State Board of Equalization reviews property tax assessment appeals and ensures consistency in property valuations across Colorado counties. The board serves as an important safeguard for homeowners, farmers, ranchers, and small businesses who depend on a fair and predictable property tax system.

“I am honored to be appointed to the State Board of Equalization,” said Senator Frizell. “The past six years of rapidly increasing real estate values have been challenging for property owners, and I look forward to bringing my 25 years of appraisal and assessment experience to the board.”

Senator Frizell’s appointment is effective immediately.
