DENVER – This morning, Senator John Cooke (R-Greeley) responded to the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association lawsuit regarding Colorado’s adoption of California low-emission vehicle standards.

“I strongly support the lawsuit filed this week by the 260 members of the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association on behalf of their customers, their employees, and Colorado taxpayers.

It is abundantly clear that state agency bureaucrats have violated both current Colorado law and common sense in imposing California’s super stringent auto emission standards on a state 1200 miles distant from the Pacific lowlands to which CDPHE director Larry Wolk fled at the end of August.

The 200,000-plus Coloradans who purchase new vehicles each year were not represented in the Air Quality Control Commission rulemaking, so this lawsuit is not only timely but necessary. I hope members of the General Assembly in both parties who care about the integrity and fairness of the statutory rulemaking process will join me in supporting this consumer rights lawsuit.”
