DENVER – This morning, Senate Republicans held a caucus meeting to accept the resignation of Senator Dennis Hisey (R-Fountain) from the Joint Budget Committee (JBC) to make way for Senator-elect Bob Rankin (R-Carbondale). The vote to elect Senator-elect Rankin to the JBC was unanimous.

“I am very appreciative of Senator Hisey’s gesture of stepping aside to allow me to continue serving on the Joint Budget Committee,” said Senator-elect Rankin. “I’m very grateful for the support I’ve received thus far, and am excited to get back to work on the Committee – and in the Senate – and continue fighting for Coloradans.”

In addition to the shift on the JBC, Senator Rankin will be replacing Senator Sonnenberg on the Appropriations Committee, and Senator Hisey will be replacing Senator Cooke on the Transportation Committee. The changes will go into effect immediately.

“It is with respect and gratitude that we welcome Senator-elect Bob Rankin to our caucus,” said Minority Leader Chris Holbert (R-Douglas County). “We are blessed to have such a smart, dedicated servant on our team. We also thank Senator Hisey for his graciousness and class in stepping aside to allow Senator Rankin to continue serving on the Joint Budget Committee. We will work hard to provide an additional seat for him on the JBC starting November 2020.”
