DENVER – This afternoon, Senate Bill 22-116 cleared the Colorado Senate Business, Labor, and Technology Committee with unanimous support.
The bill, sponsored by Minority Leader Chris Holbert (R-Douglas County), will allow professionals licensed in another state to operate in Colorado so long as they are in good standing and demonstrate intent to become a Colorado resident. This bill will help people get back to work quickly and avoid the expense of applying for a Colorado-specific license.
“Cutting red tape and making it easier for new Coloradans to enter the workforce is a no-brainer,” said Leader Holbert. “I am glad to see this bill garner bipartisan support and am excited to see it placed on the consent calendar.”
Senate Bill 22-116 was first introduced as one of the Senate and House Republicans’ “Commitment to Colorado” bills in January. It has since garnered bipartisan cosponsorship with Senator Brittany Pettersen (D-Lakewood) joining forces with Leader Holbert. This bill marks the first Commitment bill to advance past committee in the Senate.
