Senator Neville’s Senate Bill 55, Increasing the Penalty for Trafficking Children, Unanimously Passes Finance Committee
(DENVER) – Today, Senate Bill-55, which increases the penalty for trafficking children, passed the Senate Finance Committee in a unanimous, bipartisan 5-0 vote. The bill’s sponsor is Senator Tim Neville (R-Jefferson County).
“This is an extremely important issue,” said Senator Neville. “Human and child trafficking is not just a local, state, or national issue – it’s a global issue. Senate Bill-55 takes a small step towards strengthening the punishment for those who specifically traffic children. It is my hope that this is just the first of many steps the State of Colorado takes towards combatting human trafficking.”
The bill will now move to the Senate floor for consideration.
