Media Advisory: Rally for Victim Benefits Bill on Thursday
Tomorrow, the Colorado Senate Republicans will hold a press conference at 1 P.M. in the West Foyer of the State Capitol to rally support for Senate Bill 148. SB-148 provides medical benefits for the survivors of fallen officers and other state employees who are killed in the line of duty.
With the recent rash of officers being killed, their families are many times left without coverage as their medical benefits expire automatically at the end of the month they pass away. In some specific circumstances, officers have passed away near the end of the month, only for the family to be left without any support within just a few days.
