DENVER, Colo. - State Senator Jerry Sonnenberg (R-Sterling) released the following statement in response to an announcement by several environmental interest groups they will seek an energy ban in Denver.
"Last year, I withdrew an initiative that would have prevented communities that pass energy bans from receiving the benefits of oil and gas. This was done in order to have a statewide conversation on this important issue with the Governor’s task force.
I am deeply disappointed to know that people are side stepping this process and moving forward to ban energy development in communities in our state while the task force finishes its work. I call on these individuals to work with the task force and stakeholders instead of circumventing the process.”
