Senator Laura Woods

Senator Laura Woods represents Colorado Senate District 19 in Jefferson County.

Senator Woods was born in Kremmling and raised in Steamboat Springs. She attended Stephens Henager Business College and received an Associate’s Degree as a legal secretary. She then transferred to the Denver Academy of Court Reporting, where she was trained to be a Registered Professional Reporter.

Senator Woods worked with Avery Reporting as a freelance court reporter from 1982 to 1990. In 1990 she and her husband formed their own firm, Woods Reporting. They bought out Avery and merged in Woods, forming Avery Woods Reporting. They owned and operated that business for 25 years.

Senator Woods and her husband Bill have two sons, two daughters-in-law and four grandchildren.

When she is not busy at the capitol Senator Woods enjoys climbing Colorado’s 14,000-foot peaks, camping and the shooting range.
