DENVER, Colo. - A bill by Senator Tim Neville (R-Littleton) to establish the “Transparency in Health Care Prices Act” passed out of the Senate this morning on a bipartisan 35-0 vote.
This Act creates safeguards for consumers when paying for health care, namely for Colorado’s uninsured and underinsured population. Instead of patients being surprised by the cost of their health care bill after receiving services, SB 15-074 requires health care providers to make the direct pay cost for services public.
“Consumers need certainty when it comes to the price for health care services and this legislation will take an important step towards that goal,” said Senator Neville. “Coloradans deserve transparency in the cost of their health care services and I hope the House and Governor will join me in supporting this critical legislation.”
Senate Bill 15-074 passed unanimously in the Senate Health and Human Services committee and will now be sent to the House.
