Denver -- Republican Senator Larry Crowder (R-Alamosa) today received the Legislative Excellence Award from LiveWell Colorado, in recognition of his consistent support for policies that promote healthier eating and living in the state.
"LiveWell Colorado is pleased to recognize Senator Crowder as the Senate member recipient of the 2016 LiveWell Colorado Legislative Excellence Award," said the group’s Colorado CEO Shepard Nevel at a lunchtime event where the awards were made. "In 2015, Senator Crowder built a bipartisan coalition in support of advancing farm-to-school efforts in Colorado. Additionally, he actively supports local healthy eating and active living initiatives, and is a strong supporter of the San Luis Valley Local Foods Coalition."
Crowder thanked LiveWell Colorado for the award and vowed to keep supporting measures that help connect health-minded consumers with local and regional agricultural producers.
"Given all the blessings this state enjoys in terms of our natural environment, agricultural productivity and active, outdoors-oriented way of life, Colorado ought to be a national leader in encouraging healthier eating and living,” Crowder said. "Helping Coloradans connect with local food producers will encourage healthier lifestyles while also keeping Colorado's agricultural economy healthy, which is a win-win for everyone."
