King Receives 2014 MADD Legislative Champion Award

Senator Steve King (R-Grand Junction) released the following statement today upon receiving the 2014 Legislative Champion Award from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD):

“It is an honor to receive this award from an organization that is so committed to preventing drunk and drugged driving throughout Colorado. We have all too often seen the tragic impact that driving under the influence has on our communities. I am honored to have sponsored legislation to increase penalties for those who choose to drive while under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and look forward to continuing to work with Mothers Against Drunk Driving as they continue their mission to eliminate drunk and drugged driving.”

This legislative session Sen. King sponsored several bills to protect the public from drunk and drugged drivers, House Bill 1191 to create the Medina Alert program, House Bill 1310 to fund breathalyzer tests for law enforcement agencies, and House Bill 1321 to add members to the Colorado Task Force on Drunk and Impaired Driving.
