Important Clarification on the Powdered Alcohol Bill

Senate President Bill Cadman today released the following statement in response to erroneous reports that the Senate approved a powdered alcohol ban.

“The original bill banning powdered alcohol was completely rewritten by the Senate on second reading, with the new bill rejecting prohibition in favor of an approach that allows the state to regulate and tax powdered alcohol in the same way it regulates and taxes liquefied alcohol. The amended bill also states that, should the FDA ever declare powdered alcohol a dangerous, controlled or prohibited substance, the Colorado General Assembly would have an opportunity to reconsider the state's approach in light of such findings.”
