Holbert Pulls Sponsorship of Pension Bonds Bill

Senator Chris Holbert (R-Douglas County) confirmed this morning that his name has been removed as a prime sponsor of House Bill-1388. The bill, concerning pension obligation bonding, is scheduled to clear the House today but now moves to the Senate without Republican sponsorship.

Holbert further confirmed that he will be a "no" vote on the bill if it reaches a committee on which he serves or the Senate floor.

"This is too much to do this late in session," said Holbert in explaining his decision. "If pension obligation bonds can be used to reduce the time frame in which the state's pension program can be fully funded, and/or reduce liabilities to the taxpayers of Colorado, then backers of this proposal should build support in the interim and bring this idea back next year."
