Help Senator Renfroe Ban Red Light Cameras!

Do you think Colorado should ban the use of red light cameras and photo radar cameras?

Senator Scott Renfroe has proposed a bill to do that exact thing and we need your help to make sure it passes through the Legislature and is signed by Governor Hickenlooper!

Help us put an end to traffic cameras by signing this petition to support Senator Scott Renfroe’s bill.

Traffic cameras invade personal privacy and they make our intersections less safe.

Instead of being a tool to increase safety, they are used to increase revenue for the government.

By signing this petition, you can help us ban red light cameras and claim yet another victory for personal privacy and increased public safety.

Thank you for your continued support and all the hard work you do on behalf of freedom in Colorado.

P.S. Be sure to share this email with your friends and share the petition on Facebook and Twitter!

I would support this if there was another method to discourage yellow light acceleration behavior. I have seen some intersections which give you a notice that the light is about to change. This would allow common sense drivers to begin to slow down so they are not going full speed when faced with a yellow light. How about some more common sense drivers too.

The use of intersection red traffic light cameras are used in many areas of Aurora, CO. They flash in error often causing different reaction than normal in an already unsafe area. It only makes the attention redirected away from so many other movements to pay attention to when traveling through an intersection or negotiating a turn. This type of enforcement is very unsafe and quite unnecessary! If data indicates a reduction in accidents, then it is probably because traffic elects to travel a different route.

Red Light cameras strip people of their privacy and their Due Process under the law. They can be set to a fraction of a second to take pictures of people who may not have truly run a red light. They are wrong and should not be allowed in Colorado. If Denver wants to limit the number of people who run red lights then give those jobs to people and put them on street corners, not robots.

The legal system should be based on right and wrong, not gotcha.

Ban speed camera vans as well. Law enforcement should not be allowed to break the law in the name of enforcement.

would this also ban speed camera vans? If it doesn’t it should! The speed vans are usually illegally parked, and you can’t enforce the law by breaking it, not to mention the waste of buying a ~$40,000 vehicle for it to sit on the side of the road!
