Grantham Responds to Democrat Leadership Change

Denver -- Senate President Kevin J. Grantham (R-Canon City) released the following statement today in response to Senator Lucia Guzman's sudden decision to step aside as Minority Leader:

"I have enjoyed a cordial and constructive working relationship with the Minority Leader since we came into the legislature together, so I’m naturally disappointed to learn of her departure, as well as the reasons she gave for it. We intend to continue working proactively with the new Minority Leader to get the work done that Coloradans want us to do. I don’t see this as a seismic shift in the political dynamics in the Senate. There is work to be done and we have no choice, in this politically divided body, but to find common ground where we can while also standing firm on bedrock Republican principles. Lucia Guzman is a wonderful person who has acquitted herself well as Minority Leader. I respect her decision and thank her for her leadership and friendship."
