Brophy Issues Statement on Gun Legislation Passing Senate

Senator Greg Brophy (R-Wray) issued the following statement today applauding the passage of his bill to expand gun rights – SB-135 – on third reading in the Senate:

“I’m extremely proud that my colleagues voted to pass this important bill out of the Senate,” said Senator Brophy. “Not only will I continue to fight to protect Second Amendment rights, but I will work to advance our rights with common sense legislation like SB-135. If this bill is signed by Governor Hickenlooper, Coloradans will finally be able to purchase and take possession of a rifle or shotgun whether it’s purchased in Kansas or Texas.”

SB 135 repeals restrictions on firearms purchases from states that are not contiguous to Colorado, so that purchases in both contiguous and non-contiguous states are subject to the same rules. It passed the Senate unanimously and will be sent to the House for further action.
