Aerial Firefighting Bill Passes Senate

(Denver) – Senator Steve King (R-Grand Junction) issued the following statement today after his bill to improve Colorado’s aerial firefighting resources passed the Senate on third reading of bills 35-0:

“Coloradans will be safer from the devastating impacts of wildfires because of this bill. In fact, the entire western part of our country that relies on Colorado’s drinking water will be much safer because of this legislation. Colorado’s brave firefighters deserve to have every tool possible in their battle against wildfires and they are now one step closer to that reality. I’m very proud of the Senate for taking this action today and know it will pay off big time this fire season.”

The bill now goes to the House for consideration. Read the full text of SB-164 here
